Meet Our Martial Arts Instructors

Statement from Chief Instructor Barry Harte

“Practical, realistic techniques are key elements of what I teach, along with combat strategy. My students have the knowledge and ability to be able to defend themselves and their loved ones. Some of my students have professions that require them to apply techniques in live situations on a regular basis, the fact that we attract such students validates the practicality of the system. We train hard but have lots of fun too! Our members and Instructors are friendly and approachable and we welcome beginners and experienced martial artists with open arms. Why not come down and watch a class, train, or pop in for a chat with me”

Chief Instructor Sensei Barry Harte is a 6th Dan (Master Level) in Ju Jitsu. He has over 40 years’ experience training in a variety of combative arts. To see his full list of achievements click here. For a full list of our current Martial Arts Instructors and links to their bios below.

Sensei Barry Harte encourages his students to have a broad understanding and appreciation of all martial arts. This includes the traditional arts and modern street effective systems as well as competitive sports.

A testament to this is the fact that most of Barry’s more advanced students have previously acquired relevant high-level grades and certifications in other martial disciplines before seeking out and training at the Hakudakan.

People that train with us include a 7th Dan Master in Taekwon-Do and Black Belts in Shaolin Kung Fu, Nam Pai Chuan, Taekwon-Do and Jujitsu. There is also expecience in Judo, Wing Chun, White Crane Kung Fu. Also some of our students are adept at Kick Boxing, Muay Thai, and Krav Maga.
